Installing the embedded SATA RAID driver HP provides the SATA RAID feature through use of the HP Storage Manager. This feature enables RAID functionality (RAID 0 or RAID 1) for the embedded SATA controller in the system. Required hardware Installing the Embedded SATA RAID driver requires a diskette drive or a CD-ROM drive. In a Microsoft® Windows® OS environment, driver installation is supported only with a USB diskette drive , LO100i Virtual Floppy, or Virtual Floppy with the embedded SATA RAID Windows® driver. Some servers do not ship with these drives as standard hardware. Diskette and CD-ROM drive options To acquire a diskette drive option or CD-ROM drive option for a server, contact an HP authorized reseller. HP Integrated Lights-Out Virtual Floppy and CD-ROM drives LO100i Advanced provides diskette drive and CD-ROM drive functionality through the LO100i Virtual Floppy and CD-ROM features. For detailed information about LO100i Advanced, refer to the HP Integrated Lights-Out User Guide on the HP website (http://www.hp.com/servers/lights-out). USB diskette and CD-ROM drives For driver installation purposes, a USB diskette drive and USB CD-ROM drive are sufficient, unless otherwise indicated in driver-specific documentation. NOTE: Do not use a USB drive key in place of the diskette drive. The OS does not support driver installation from a USB drive key. NOTE: HP recommends the use of HP standard USB disk drives. HP provides both standard USB 2.0 support and legacy USB 2.0 support. Standard support is provided by the OS through the appropriate USB device drivers. Before the OS loads, HP provides support for USB devices through legacy USB support, which is enabled by default in the system ROM. Legacy USB support provides USB functionality in environments where USB support is not available normally. HP provides the SATA RAID feature through use of the HP Storage Manager. This feature enables RAID
functionality (RAID 0 or RAID 1) for the embedded SATA controller in the system.
Required hardware
Installing the Embedded SATA RAID driver requires a diskette drive or a CD-ROM drive.
