3-40 Compaq StorageWorks TL881/TL891 Family MiniLibrary System Reference Guide 10. Set Negotiation Mode: This option offers two choices: Initiate Negotiation and Set Transfer Rate. Initiate Negotiation, if set, enables the MiniLibrary System to initiate SCSI Synchronous Negotiation with the host (the default is No). The Expansion Unit always responds to host-initiated negotiation. Set Transfer Rate can be set to 10 Mbytes/sec, 5 Mbytes/sec or Asynchronous. The default is 10 Mbytes/sec. 11. Set Mail Slot: Some of the available host software enables the system administrator to limit access to the MiniLibrary as a whole while permitting insertion into or removal from the MiniLibrary of one or more tape cartridges when needed. This feature is commonly called a mail slot. It is implemented using SCSI import/export elements. 12. Set Reserved Slots: Some host software imposes size limits on tape library magazines for licensing purposes, and will not operate with a library that exceeds the licensed size. This configuration option enables you to withdraw some of the slots in the Expansion Unit from use as storage slots in order to meet licensing requirements. 13. Set Default: This option resets all of the preceding configuration options to their factory defaults. It does not affect the settings of the SCSI IDs of the DLT drives. 14. Set Special Configuration: This option contains predefined Compaq operational configurations. See Table 3-12 for default configuration characteristics. NOTE: The options listed in Tables 3-11 and 3-12 represent the version of the firmware in use when this manual was written. If the displays on your control panel differ from those described here, you might find an up to date listing of configuration options on the Compaq web site listed at the front of this manual.
