Tape Drives and Cartridges F-7 Transportation Guidelines Keep within the following environmental guidelines as listed in Tables F-3 and F-4. Table F-3 Unrecorded (Blank) Cartridges Description Temperature Relative humidity Wet bulb temperature Duration Specification -10°F to 118°F (-23°C to 48°C) 5% to 100% 48.8°F (26°C), maximum 10 consecutive days, maximum Table F-4 Recorded Cartridges Description Temperature Relative humidity Wet bulb temperature Duration Specification 41°F to 89°F (5°C to 32°C) 5% to 80% 48.8°F (26°C), maximum 30 years at 68°F (20°C) and 40% relative humidity, non-condensing Also, follow these guidelines: I Avoid mechanical stress that might distort the shape of cartridge, such as dropping or bumping the cartridge. I Fit cartridges into a rigid container with adequate shock-absorbing material. The container should have a clean interior and construction that provides sealing to prevent invasion by dirt and/or water. I Mark the shipping container to clearly identify its correct orientation. I Avoid exposing cartridges to widely varying temperatures and/or humidity whenever possible.
