The Use Cleaning Tape LED turns on after you clean the drive heads and reload your data cartridge. The Use Cleaning Tape LED is on after you load the cleaning cartridge. Cause The drive heads need cleaning or the tape is defective. The data cartridge might be defective. Your data cartridge might be the problem. Cleaning has not been done. The cleaning cartridge might have expired. Solution Try another tape. Use the cleaning cartridge if the LED stays on. The cleaning operation begins automatically as soon as the cartridge insert/release handle is closed. When cleaning is complete, the internal beeper sounds to tell you to remove the cleaning cartridge. Back up this data on another cartridge, then discard the old cartridge. A damaged cartridge might cause unnecessary use of the cleaning cartridge. Try a different data cartridge. Replace the cleaning cartridge with a new one. If the Use Cleaning Tape LED stays on, the tape drive might be defective.
