BMC Embedded LAN Channel
The BMC hardware includes two dedicated 10/100 network interfaces, which are given below:
Interface 1:
This interface is available from either of the available NIC ports in system that can
be shared with the host. Only one NIC may be enabled for management traffic at any time. The
default active interface is onboard NIC1.
Interface 2:
This interface is available from Intel
®
Remote Management Module 3 (Intel
®
RMM3), which is a dedicated management NIC and not shared with the host.
For these channels, you can enable support for IPMI-over-LAN and DHCP.
For security reasons, embedded LAN channels have the following default settings:
±
IP Address: Static
±
All users disabled
IPMI-enabled network interfaces may not be placed on the same subnet. This includes the
Intel
®
RMM3’s onboard network interface and either of the BMC’s embedded network interfaces.
