15.5.22 F97 (Compressor Overheating) Malfunction Decision Conditions  During operation of cooling and heating, when compressor tank temperature data (233.6°F) is detected by the compressor tank temperature sensor. Malfunction Caused  Faulty compressor tank temperature sensor  2/3 way valve closed  Refrigerant shortage (refrigerant leakage)  Faulty outdoor unit PCB  Faulty compressor Troubleshooting When F97 indication happens Check the compressor tank temperature sensor. Caution For safety reason and to prevent component breakdown, always switch off the power before remove and connect the component. Does it conform to the sensor characteristic chart? YES 2/3 way valve closed? NO Check for gas leakage. Oil oozing out from the 2/3 way valve? NO Check if expansion valve or strainer clogged (ice formed) NO Reclaim and recharge for a specified amount of fresh refrigerant Refrigerant cycle abnormality error again? NO NO YES YES YES YES Replace the compressor tank temperature sensor. Open the 2/3 way valve. Repair the pipe flare or union nuts. Reclaim and recharge refrigerant.
