Setting the Network preferences for your provider and dial-up server Entering a password The Password setting identifies the password you use to log into your server or Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your entry in this field determines whether your CLIÉ handheld prompts you to enter a password each time you log into your network: • If you do not enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word [-Prompt-] in this field and asks you to enter a password during the log-in procedure. • If you enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word [-Assigned-] in this field and does not prompt you to enter a password during the log-in procedure. Note If you are concerned about security, select [ -Prompt- ] and do not enter a password. 1 Tap next to [Password:] on the Preferences screen for [Network]. The Password dialog box is displayed. 2 Enter the password you use to log into your server. 3 Tap [OK]. The field for [Password:] changes to display the word [-Assigned-]. Selecting a connection Use the Connection setting to select the method you want to use to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a dial-up server. 1 Tap V next to [Connection:], and select [Standard Modem] on the Preferences screen for [Network].
