Status: Length: Error: Displays the connection status of the cable connected to the port. The test results of the cable include normal, close, open, short, impedance or unknown. If the connection status is normal, here displays the length range of the cable. If the connection status is close, open or impedance, here displays the error length of the cable. Note: 1. The Length displayed here is the length of pair cable not that of the physical cable. 2. The test result is just for your reference. 13.3.2 Loopback Loopback test function, looping the sender and the receiver of the signal, is used to test whether the port of the switch is available as well as to check and analyze the physical connection status of the port to help you locate and solve network malfunctions. Choose the menu Maintenance→Device Diagnostics→Loopback to load the following page. Figure 13-8 Loopback The following entries are displayed on this screen: Loopback Type Internal: Select Internal to test whether the port is available. External: Select External to test whether the device connected to the port of the switch is available Loopback Port Loopback Port: Select the desired port for loopback test. Test: Click the Test button to start the loopback test for the port. 159
