■ Changing the stitch width Adjust the stitch width. ■ Sewing buttonholes on stretch fabrics When sewing buttonholes on stretch fabrics, use a gimp thread. Hook the gimp thread onto the part of a buttonhole foot "A" shown in the illustration. • For details, refer to "Adjusting the stitch width" (page 54). Memo z Before sewing buttonholes, check the stitch length and width by sewing a trial buttonhole on a scrap piece of fabric. Select stitch 46 or 47 . d Adjust the stitch width to the thickness of the e gimp thread. Lower the presser foot lever and the f buttonhole lever, and then start sewing.
