Assigning IP Addresses to an Interface Assign primary and secondary IP addresses to physical or logical (for example, [virtual local area network [VLAN] or port channel) interfaces to enable IP communication between the system and hosts connected to that interface. You can assign one primary address and up to 255 secondary IP addresses to each interface. NOTE: You cannot assign an IP address on a port extender interface and VP-LAG. However, you can assign an IP address to a VLAN that is associated with a port extender interface or a VP-LAG interface that is a member. The commands that are applicable on a switchport are only available on the port extender interface. 1. Enter the keyword interface then the type of interface and slot/port information.
