Creating WRED Profiles To create WRED profiles, use the following commands. 1. Create a WRED profile. CONFIGURATION mode wred 2. Specify the minimum and maximum threshold values. WRED mode threshold Applying a WRED Profile to Traffic After you create a WRED profile, you must specify on which traffic the system applies the profile. The system assigns a color-coded drop precedence - red, yellow, or green - to each packet based on the fourth bit of the 6-bit DSCP field in the packet header before queuing it. • If the fourth DSCP bit is 0, packet is marked as green. • If the fourth DSCP bit is 1, the packet is marked as yellow (except for DSCP 63, which is marked as red). • If you do not configure honor DSCP values on ingress packets (trust diffservcommand), all traffic defaults to green drop precedence. See Honoring DSCP Values on Ingress Packets for more information. • Assign a WRED profile to either yellow or green traffic.
