To specify the system logging settings, use the following commands. • Specify the minimum severity level for logging to the logging buffer. CONFIGURATION mode logging monitor level • Specify the minimum severity level for logging to a syslog server. CONFIGURATION mode logging trap level • Specify the minimum severity level for logging to the syslog history table. CONFIGURATION mode logging history level • Specify the size of the logging buffer. CONFIGURATION mode logging buffered size NOTE: When you decrease the buffer size, the operating system deletes all messages stored in the buffer. Increasing the buffer size does not affect messages in the buffer. • Specify the number of messages that the operating system saves to its logging history table. CONFIGURATION mode logging history size size To view the logging buffer and configuration, use the show logging command in EXEC privilege mode, as shown in the example for Display the Logging Buffer and the Logging Configuration.
