Single sheets loaded from the optional cut-sheet feeder
The platen rotates but the cut-sheet feeder does not feed the
paper.
Cause
What to do
The cut-sheet feeder is
installed incorrectly.
Reinstall it correctly . See “Installing
the cut-sheet feeder” in Chapter 5.
The paper release lever is set
to the tractor position.
Set the paper release lever to the
single-sheet position. (See “Setting
the paper release lever” in Chapter 3.)
The right and left paper
guides are too close to the
paper stack, preventing the
paper from feeding smoothly.
Adjust the paper guides to match the
width of your paper.
Paper is jammed inside the
printer.
Clear the paper jam as described on
page 7-24.
There are only a few sheets of
paper left in the bin.
Add more paper.
You may have loaded the
wrong type of paper in bin 2
of the double-bin cut-sheet
feeder.
Use only the high-capacity feeder
(bin 1) or the sheet guide for
single-sheet multi-part forms (only the
type glued at the top of the forms in
bin 1), for envelopes, or for postcards.
You may have loaded too
many sheets in the bin.
Remove some sheets. The
high-capacity feeder (bin 1) can hold
up to 150 sheets of standard bond
paper, 40 single-sheet multi-part
forms, 25 plain or bond envelopes,
30 airmail envelopes, or 50 postcards.
The second-bin feeder (bin 2) can hold
up to 50 sheets of standard bond paper.
