Cause What to do The printer is out of paper for the selected p ap er sou rce. Make sure the paper release lever is in the correct p osition, and load p ap er in the cu rrent p ap er sou rce. Press the Pa use bu tton to resu m e p rinting. Paper on the paper guid e is p ositioned too far to the left or right for the p ap er sensor to d etect it. Move the paper a little to the right or left. When it is p ositioned p rop erly, the Pa p e r Out and Pa use lights go off. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. Cause The ribbon cartrid ge is not installed properly. What to do Install the ribbon cartrid ge as d escribed in Chapter 1. The ribbon is w orn out. Rep lace the ribbon cartrid ge as d escribed in Chapter 6. The p ap er thickness lever is set incorrectly. Set the p ap er thickness lever to m atch the thickness of you r p ap er. computer specifications.
Use an interface cable that meets the
requirements of both the printer and
computer. See page 1-10 and your
computer documentation.
Your software is not properly
set up for your printer.
Make sure that your printer is
properly selected in your application
software. If necessary, install or
reinstall the printer driver software
as described in Chapter 2.
The
Paper Out
and
Pa use
lights are on and the printer does
not print.
Cause
What to do
The printer is out of paper for
the selected paper source.
Make sure the paper release lever is in
the correct position, and load paper in
the current paper source. Press the
Pa use
button to resume printing.
Paper on the paper guide is
positioned too far to the left
or right for the paper sensor
to detect it.
Move the paper a little to the right or
left. When it is positioned properly,
the
Paper Out
and
Pa use
lights go
off.
The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints.
Cause
What to do
The ribbon cartridge is not
installed properly.
Install the ribbon cartridge as
described in Chapter 1.
The ribbon is worn out.
Replace the ribbon cartridge as
described in Chapter 6.
The paper thickness lever is
set incorrectly.
Set the paper thickness lever to match
the thickness of your paper. See
“Adjusting the paper thickness lever”
in Chapter 3.
