Using Windows NT 4.0 Installing Retail Windows NT 4.0 HP strongly recommends copying the \I386 Windows NT 4.0 installation directory as well as the NT4 driver directory to your hard drive: • Copy the I386 directory on the Windows NT Workstation CD to the root of the notebook hard drive. (This will create an \I386 directory on the root.) • Create a folder on the hard drive and give it the name "HP", copy the entire contents from the NT4 drivers directory to a C:\HP directory you will create. To install Service Pack 6a for retail Windows NT 4.0 If you've installed a retail version of Windows NT 4.0, you'll need to install Service Pack 6a. You can download the service pack from the Microsoft web site at http://www.microsoft.com. 1. Download the file SP6I386.EXE from Microsoft's web site. 2. Double-click on the file SP6I386.EXE. 3. Select "Accept the License Agreement", deselect "Backup files", and click Install. 4. When prompted, click Restart. To install video support If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the video driver. The video driver is contained in the VIDEO subdirectory. To install or upgrade the video driver: 1. Run SETUP.EXE from the VIDEO subdirectory. 2. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the video driver. 3. Click Finish to restart your computer. The driver will be installed after the system reboots. If your operating system asks you for settings, set the Resolution to 1024 x 768, and the Color Palette to 65536 colors. HP strongly recommends copying the \I386 Windows NT 4.0 installation directory as
well as the NT4 driver directory to your hard drive:

from the NT4 drivers directory to a C:\HP directory you will create.
To install Service Pack 6a for retail Windows NT 4.0
If you’ve installed a retail version of Windows NT 4.0, you’ll need to install Service Pack
6a. You can download the service pack from the Microsoft web site at

Download the file SP6I386.EXE from Microsoft’s web site.
2. Double-click on the file SP6I386.EXE.

To install video support
If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the video driver. The video driver
