15 OTHER FUNCTIONS Band Scope function NOTE: During the continuous sweep, the noise may occur if you bring your hand or body close to the screen. DDUsing the Band Scope function [MENU] > SCOPE 1. Push [MENU]. 2. Select "SCOPE." •• Returns to the standby screen, and starts the continuous sweep. 3. Push [QUICK]. 4. Select "Scope Mode." DDUsing the Waterfall display On the single band display, you can turn the waterfall display ON or OFF. Waterfall zone Scale When selecting a Band Scope zone (with a line in orange) Scale LLInformation •• Higher signal levels are Red, Yellow, Green, Light-blue, Blue, and Black (no signal), in that order. •• During a sweep, the scales on both sides of the waterfall zone are moved with the waterfall. While stopping a sweep, the scales and the waterfall also freeze. •• You can select the Waterfall speed. ([MENU] > SET > Scope > Waterfall Speed) 5. Select the Band Scope display mode. •• Displays the selected display mode, and starts the continuous sweep. 6. Push [ENT]. •• Stops the sweep. LLPush [ENT] again, to resume the sweep for the Continuous Sweep function. 7. When the sweeping stops, rotate [DIAL] to move the sweep marker to a detected signal. •• You can hear the signal audio. [CLR] When selecting the Band Scope zone: •• Push to stop the sweep during a sweep. •• Push to turn OFF the Band Scope function while stopping a sweep. TIP: •• If the tuning step is set too wide, the signals in the sweep range may not be displayed (they may be skipped), even if they are strong signals. Therefore, we recommend that you set the tuning step to 20 kHz or less to use the Band Scope function. See the Basic manual Section 3 for details on how to set the tuning step. •• On the AIR band, you cannot hear the displayed frequency's audio during a sweep. When "AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band)" is set to ON, the received audio is momentarily output during a sweep, and you will know that a signal is received without looking at the display. - You can turn "AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band)" ON or OFF on the MENU screen. (p. 12-30) - T he FM Radio audio output may be interrupted due to the AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band) function. In that case, set "AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band)" to OFF, or set "Auto Mute" to OFF. 2� Select “SCOPE�”
Returns to the standby screen, and starts the
continuous sweep�

Using the Waterfall display
On the single band display, you can turn the waterfall
display ON or OFF�
TIP:
If the tuning step is set too wide, the signals in the
sweep range may not be displayed (they may be
skipped), even if they are strong signals� Therefore,
we recommend that you set the tuning step to 20 kHz
or less to use the Band Scope function� See the Basic
manual Section 3 for details on how to set the tuning
step�
On the AIR band, you cannot hear the displayed
frequency’s audio during a sweep� When “AF Output
(DUAL/AIR Band)” is set to ON, the received audio is
momentarily output during a sweep, and you will know
that a signal is received without looking at the display�
- You can turn “AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band)” ON or
OFF on the MENU screen� (p� 12-30)

The FM Radio audio output may be interrupted due to
the AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band) function� In that case,
set “AF Output (DUAL/AIR Band)” to OFF, or set “Auto
Mute” to OFF�
