UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP Windows NT Instructions Assigning IP Address With ARP 1. From Windows, enter the MS/DOS box. At the command prompt enter: ping [any valid IP address on your network - not the print server] The identified unit should reply. NOTE: You need to ping something on your network prior to using the arp -s command. Windows NT will not allow you to add an entry to an empty arp cache. arp -s [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server] [MAC Address of the NC-2 Print Server]. The entry should be accepted. ping [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server]. Request should time out. 2. Recycle the power on the printer or let the NC-2 Print Server reset itself. The NC-2 Print Server will produce a status page that should include the entered IP address. 3. When the NC-2 Print Server is up again, at the command prompt, enter: ping [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server] Continue until you get a reply. NOTE: This only enters the IP address. Use the ntBOOTP Program or any standard Internet Web Browser to change the IP parameters. UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP 5-13
