UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol FTP UNIX Printing ASCII to PostScript (A2PS) Method If you wish to send text-based files to the PostScript printer on your print server, connect to that port. For example, to print to A2PSx (ascii to postscript) on your print server from Netscape 2.0 (or greater): 1. Type: ftp://a2ps1@ 2. Select File. 3. Select Upload File. The selected file is now sent to the printer. Drag and Drop Method From Netscape 2.0 (or greater), use the drag and drop method of printing a file on your print server, as follows: 1. Type: ftp://port1@ 2. Click and hold on the file that is on your system and drag it to your IP browser's window. 3. Click on OK to upload the file. The selected file is now sent to the printer. NOTES: 1. FTP printing does not support selecting multiple file names. 2. Only one person can be logged on to a port at any particular time. FTP Client To print from a FTP Client, perform the following procedure: 1. Type: ftp 2. Type: port1 (login using username of PORT1) 3. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
FTP UNIX Printing
ASCII to PostScript (A2PS) Method
If you wish to send text-based files to the PostScript printer on your print
server, connect to that port. For example, to print to A2PSx (ascii to
postscript) on your print server from Netscape 2.0 (or greater):
1. Type:
ftp://a2ps1@<destination server IP address>
2. Select
File

3. Select
Upload File.
The selected file is now sent to the printer.
Drag and Drop Method
From Netscape 2.0 (or greater), use the
drag and drop
method of printing a
file on your print server, as follows:
1. Type:
ftp://port1@<destination server IP address>
2. Click and hold on the file that is on your system and drag it to your IP
browser's window.
3. Click on
OK
to upload the file.
The selected file is now sent to the printer.
NOTES:
1. FTP printing does not support selecting multiple file names.
2. Only one person can be logged on to a port at any particular time.
FTP Client
To print from a FTP Client, perform the following procedure:
1. Type:
ftp <destination server ID>
2. Type:
port1
(login using username of
PORT1
)
3. Type:
put <filename>
The selected file is now sent to the printer.
