Jumper Settings

Page 158 highlights

Jumper Settings Normally, you do not need to change the jumpers on the NC-2 board. Only in a rare case would you find that the jumper configuration does not work with your network configuration. IMPORTANT: Do NOT change any of these jumpers unless you have the technical knowledge to do so. Any changes to the jumper setting may cause your NC-2 to perform improperly or not at all. Thinnet Connections Only For Thinnet connections (10Base2), change the Media Selection and Ethernet Interface Type jumpers described below. • Media Selection Jumper lets you set the NC-2 to automatically identify the Ethernet Interface Type; or to let you do it manually. • Ethernet Interface Type Jumper (use only in conjunction with the Media Selection Switch) lets you set the interface type to either 10BaseT or Thinnet, if the Media Selection Jumper is set to manual. • Collision Threshold Jumper selects collision threshold capability for Thinnet interfaces only. • Reset to Factory default Jumper allows you to set the NC-2 settings back to factory default. To change specific jumper settings, see procedures on the following pages. Changing Jumper Settings Step 1: Turn off the Printer Controller Power and unplug the power cord. Step 2: Remove the NC-2 board from the printer controller. Step 3: Locate the Jumpers on the NC-2 board. (See the NC-2 board illustration on the following page.) Step 4: Change jumpers, as specified on the following pages. Step 5: Reinsert the NC-2 board into the ISA Bus slot of the printer controller. Step 6: Plug in the power cord, then turn on power to the Printer Controller. A-5

Jumper Settings
Normally, you do not need to change the jumpers on the NC-2 board. Only
in a rare case would you find that the jumper configuration does not work
with your network configuration.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT change any of these jumpers unless you have
the technical knowledge to do so. Any changes to the jumper setting
may cause your NC-2 to perform improperly or not at all.
Thinnet Connections Only
For Thinnet connections (10Base2), change the Media Selection and
Ethernet Interface Type jumpers described below.
Media Selection Jumper lets you set the NC-2 to automatically
identify the Ethernet Interface Type; or to let you do it manually.
Ethernet Interface Type Jumper (use only in conjunction with the
Media Selection Switch) lets you set the interface type to either
10BaseT or Thinnet, if the Media Selection Jumper is set to
manual.
Collision Threshold Jumper selects collision threshold capability
for Thinnet interfaces only.
Reset to Factory default Jumper allows you to set the NC-2
settings back to factory default.
To change specific jumper settings, see procedures on the following pages.
Changing Jumper Settings
Step 1: Turn off the Printer Controller Power and unplug the power cord.
Step 2: Remove the NC-2 board from the printer controller.
Step 3: Locate the Jumpers on the NC-2 board. (See the NC-2 board
illustration on the following page.)
Step 4: Change jumpers, as specified on the following pages.
Step 5: Reinsert the NC-2 board into the ISA Bus slot of the printer
controller.
Step 6: Plug in the power cord, then turn on power to the Printer Controller.
