Troubleshooting ERROR MESSAGES 4.9 ERROR MESSAGES Error By-pass tray jam (door open) Cancel? 1. Yes, 2. No COMM error Low/Open heat error Overheat Delayed function full Document jam Door open Enter again Function impossible Group not available LSU error Invalid/No cartridge Line error Description Paper is either jammed in the bypass tray, or paper is not fed correctly. The memory becomes full when attempting to store a document. A communication error occurred. A problem in the fusing unit occurred. The machine has overheated. The delayed fax job list/memory space is full. A jam occurred in the ADF. The front or rear cover is not securely latched. Invalid item is entered. A combination of printer functions that cannot be used at the same time has been attempted. A group location number has been selected where only a single location number can be used. This can occur when adding locations for a fax broadcast operation. A problem occurred in the LSU. A unauthorized cartridge has been used. The machine cannot connect with the remote machine, or has lost contact because of a problem with the phone line. Solution Clear the paper jam and load paper correctly. Press the '1' button and select 'yes' to cancel the fax job. Press the '2' button and select 'no' to send the pages that are stored in memory. This will send only those the pages that are stored. Remaining pages can be sent at a later time, when the memory frees up. Ask the sender to try again. Check the thermostat, thermistor contact point, and heating lamp. The machine automatically goes into stand-by mode. The machine restarts when it cools down to the normal operating temperature. Check the operation of the thermistor and thermostat if the problem persists. Cancel unnecessary fax jobs. Clear the document jam. Close the clover until it locks into place. Enter the correct item. Reduce the number of selected functions, or use only one function at a time. Use a speed dial number, or dial the number manually with the number keypad. Use tech mode to test the LSU. Replace if necessary. Use an approved cartridge. Try again. If the problem persists, wait an hour for the line to clear and then try again, or turn the ECM on. SM 4-33 B273
