Chapter 7 Using the RAID-0 or RAID-1 Utility Using RAID RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a utility that allows you to configure your computer to provide either improved performance in reading and writing data on the computer's internal hard disks or greater reliability in storing data on the computer's internal hard disks. Your computer supports two types of RAID: RAID-0 and RAID-1. Your computer can only be configured for one type of RAID at a time. It cannot be configured to use both RAID-0 and RAID-1 simultaneously. Your computer comes ready to be configured for RAID-1; however, RAID-1 can be disabled or you can choose to install RAID-0. NOTE Toshiba RAID is only supported on Toshiba-certified hard disk drives. 257
