Printing and queue management LCDS (Line Conditioned Data Stream) LCDS (Line Conditioned Data Stream) jobs are accepted from a channel-attached mainframe, from networked workstations and from a tape client. The Process of Printing an LCDS Job Before LCDS data can be sent to the printer, the printer operator must perform the following tasks: • Load all the resources on the printer. These resources include fonts, images, forms, and the printing instructions. Every LCDS job requires resources such as fonts, images, forms, logos, and a JSL. These resources must be loaded at the workstation prior to running the job. You can view and print a list of LCDS resources on the system. • Set up the trays • Activate the queue • Load the paper for the job to print properly When the printer is set up for a job's requirements, the host operator can send the job data. When printing is complete, the printer operator performs procedures to end the data transfer. This can be done automatically by a timer or by a command in the data stream. NOTE: Sometimes LCDS jobs are so large that they can fill or exceed the hard disk capacity of the system. The Job Partitioning feature enables the system to manage the internal disk capacity. Select [Setup: System Preferences] and select the Job Policy tab to make partitioning selections. To view LCDS resources 1. Select [Administration > LCDS Resources...] menu option.
