DuraStor 6220SS/7220SS Installation and User's Guide Replacing the SAF-TE Controller Card The SAF-TE controller has SCSI ID 15. If your storage management software tool is not recognizing that SCSI ID, the SAF-TE controller card may have failed. See Problems with the DuraStor 312R Storage Enclosure on page 6-2 for other indications that the SAF-TE controller card has failed. A failed SAF-TE controller card should be replaced immediately. Warning: The SAF-TE controller card is not hot-swappable. You must power off the storage enclosure to replace this card. Note: Make a note of the switch settings on the SAF-TE controller card before you remove it from the storage enclosure. 1 Power off the DuraStor 312R. See Powering Off on page 3-54. 2 Loosen the two screws that secure the SAF-TE controller card to the storage enclosure. 3 Grasp the screws and gently pull the SAF-TE controller card from the storage enclosure. 4 Align the replacement card with the rail guides of the open bay and push gently but firmly until the card seats completely. See Figure 5-10. 5 Tighten the screws. Do not overtighten. 6 Set the switch settings. Refer to the note you made before step 1. 5-14

Replacing the SAF-TE Controller Card
The SAF-TE controller has SCSI ID 15. If your storage management
software tool is not recognizing that SCSI ID, the SAF-TE controller
card may have failed. See
Problems with the DuraStor 312R Storage
Enclosure
on page 6-2
for other indications that the SAF-TE
controller card has failed.
A failed SAF-TE controller card should be replaced immediately.
Warning:
The SAF-TE controller card is
not
hot-swappable.
You must
power off
the storage enclosure to replace this
card.
Note:
Make a note of the switch settings on the SAF-TE
controller card before you remove it from the storage
enclosure.

Power off the DuraStor 312R. See
Powering Off
on page 3-54
.

Loosen the two screws that secure the SAF-TE controller card to
the storage enclosure.

Grasp the screws and gently pull the SAF-TE controller card
from the storage enclosure.

Align the replacement card with the rail guides of the open bay
and push gently but firmly until the card seats completely. See
Figure 5-10
.

Tighten the screws.
Do not
overtighten.

Set the switch settings. Refer to the note you made before step 1.
