DuraStor 6220SS/7220SS Installation and User's Guide Cooling Fan Module The cooling system of the DuraStor 312R consists of four highperformance cooling fans enclosed in a module that fits into a bay on the back of the enclosure. See Figure 2-19. The front two fans cool the drive bay area and the back two fans cool the interface cards and power supply chamber. DuraStor 312R Cooling Fan Module The SCSI-Accessed Fault Tolerant Enclosure (SAF-TE) processor monitors the temperature and reports when it exceeds the established threshold of 60 °C (140 °F). If this occurs, the Fan Status LED flashes amber. If one fan fails, the audible alarm sounds and the Fan Status LED lights up solid amber. Failed fans must be replaced immediately. The cooling fan module can be hot-swapped during normal operation. For detailed information, see Replacing the Cooling Fan Module on page 5-10. ! Caution: Do not operate the DuraStor 312R storage enclosure for longer than 5 minutes with the cooling fan module removed. Cooling is unavailable to all components while the fan canister is removed. 2-18

Cooling Fan Module
The cooling system of the DuraStor 312R consists of four high-
performance cooling fans enclosed in a module that fits into a bay
on the back of the enclosure. See

. The front two fans

The SCSI-Accessed Fault Tolerant Enclosure (SAF-TE) processor
monitors the temperature and reports when it exceeds the
established threshold of 60 °C (140 °F). If this occurs, the Fan Status
LED flashes amber.
If one fan fails, the audible alarm sounds and the Fan Status LED
lights up solid amber. Failed fans must be replaced immediately.
The cooling fan module can be hot-swapped during normal

Caution:
Do not
operate the DuraStor 312R storage
enclosure for longer than 5 minutes with the cooling fan
module removed. Cooling is unavailable to all components
while the fan canister is removed.
