If the display's power cord is connected to the back of your computer, disconnect the display's power plug from the back of the display. 3 Wipe the case surfaces lightly with a clean, soft cloth dampened with water. Don't use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives that might damage the finish on the case. 4 Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe the screen. Don't spray the cleaner onto the screen, because the liquid may drip inside the display. WARNING Do not use a cleaner that contains alcohol or acetone. You might damage the screen. Protecting your display from theft The slot at the base of the display in the back is for connecting a security lock. It lets you attach a narrow, flexible cable that you can use to secure your display (and the rest of your computer system) to prevent theft.
