Installing an alert sound

IMPORTANT If the Sound control panel doesn't appear, you may have a different version of the AppleVision display software. In this case, instructions in this chapter don't apply. See Macintosh Guide for instructions on setting the alert sound. To open Macintosh Guide, choose Macintosh Guide from the Guide menu (marked with the h icon). 2 Click the alert sound that you want the computer to use. 3 Drag the slider control up or down to set the volume level. Note: On some Macintosh computers, the volume control in the Alert Sounds panel must be set above minimum to hear sound on your AppleVision 1710AV Display. For more information, see "Checking Volume Controls on Your Computer" earlier in this chapter. Installing an alert sound Your computer comes with several alert sounds. You can get additional sounds from various sources. To install a sound: 1 Drag the sound's icon to the System Folder icon (not the open System Folder window). A message appears asking if you want to install the sound. 2 Click OK. The sound is automatically installed in the System file. Once you add a sound to the System file, it is listed in the Sound control panel. 80 Chapter 5

Installing an alert sound
Your computer comes with several alert sounds. You can get additional
sounds from various sources.
To install a sound:

Drag the sound’s icon to the System Folder icon (not the open System Folder window).
A message appears asking if you want to install the sound.

Click OK.
The sound is automatically installed in the System file.
Once you add a sound to the System file, it is listed in the Sound control
panel.
