Autodesk Navisworks updates the position and alignment of the section plane, so that it is placed at the point you clicked. To align a section plane to surface 1 On the Sectioning toolbar, select the plane you want to align in the drop-down box. 2 If it's not already enabled, click . 3 Select Align To Surface from the alignment button menu. The cursor changes to a crosshair . 4 In the Scene Area, click somewhere on an object you want to align to. To move a section plane through the model 1 On the Sectioning toolbar, select the required section plane in the drop-down box. 2 If it's not already enabled, click . 3 If necessary, change the alignment of the section plane, and set up the slider step size. 4 Move the slider to interactively position the section plane to the required location. Clicking the slider causes it to move incrementally. The distance shown in the edit box is the distance from the 'base point' that is set by the alignment. So if you chose 'Top' alignment, it is the distance from the top of the model, if you chose 'Left' alignment, it's the distance from the left, and so on. You can type the distance value directly into the edit box (instead of using the slider). TIP You can also use the cursor keys and mouse wheel for simple sliding of the section plane through the model. 5 If you want to restrict the range of the section plane movement to specific items, select them in the Scene Area, and click the Set Range button.
