Use this feature in networks containing iSCSI initiators and targets where you want to protect this traffic from interruption by giving the traffic preferential QoS treatment. The dynamically generated classifier rules are used to direct the iSCSI data traffic to queues that can be given the desired preference characteristics over other data traveling through the switch. This can avoid session interruptions during times of congestion that would otherwise cause iSCSI packets to be dropped. The preferential treatment of iSCSI traffic needs to be balanced against the needs of other critical data in the network, such as Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The iSCSI Optimization menu contains links to the following pages: • iSCSI Optimization Global Configuration • iSCSI Targets • iSCSI Sessions iSCSI Optimization Global Configuration Use the iSCSI Optimization Global Configuration page to allow the switch to snoop for iSCSI sessions/connections and to configure QoS treatment for packets where the iSCSI protocol is detected. By default, iSCSI flows are assigned to the highest VLAN priority or DSCP value VPT/DSCP mapped to the highest queue not used for stack management or voice VLAN. Use the Quality of Service →Class of Service →Mapping Table Configuration page to configure the relevant Class of Service parameters for the queue in order to complete the setting. To access the iSCSI Optimization Global Configuration page, click System →iSCSI →Global Configuration in the navigation tree.
