6 HP NetRAID Series Software Overview In this chapter you will complete the next five steps in the installation: • In Step I, you choose whether you want to use I2O or non-I2O HP NetRAID drivers • In Step J, you use the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM to prepare the diskettes needed to install the NOS, HP NetRAID drivers, and the HP NetRAID NOS-specific utilities • In Step K, you install the network operating system (NOS) if necessary and the appropriate HP NetRAID drivers • In Step L, you install the NOS-specific configuration utility you need to manage your HP NetRAID system • In Step M, you run optional configuration utilities Step I. Decide Which HP NetRAID Drivers You Need Before you begin to install your software, you must decide which set of drivers you need. • If you have an HP NetRAID adapter, you must install non-I2O drivers. • If you have an HP NetRAID-1 adapter, you must install non-I2O drivers. • If you have an HP NetRAID-3Si adapter, you have a choice. The HP NetRAID-3Si adapter supports non-I2O drivers on all operating systems and supports I2O drivers on some operating systems. The data created using I2O drivers is fully compatible with data created using non-I2O drivers. This chapter contains complete instructions on installing non-I2O drivers. If you are installing non-I2O drivers, see Step J next in this chapter. 69
