Chapter 7 MtcEthP and MtcEtx Messages IOPn.MtcEthP status: Error in Ethernet Provider NIC bindings in the Control Panel. Severity Error Description This message is logged if the Ethernet Provider service is either: not bound to an Ethernet adapter, bound to too many adapters, or bound to an adapter that is not configured. Action Perform the following steps. Then reboot the IOP following any changes to the bindings, because corrections of this type do not take effect until the next time Windows NT is restarted. • Run the HP NetServer AA Configuration Utility and commit the configuration. Correct the configuration for the adapter as required to resolve any network related errors that occur when committing the changes. • Using the Network Control Panel application, make sure that the adapter bindings are set correctly. Bind the Endurance Ethernet Provider to the adapter that provides connectivity to the local area network. • When installing new NIC drivers, it is common for the adapter services key in the Registry to be removed and recreated. Make sure that the NetworkAddress value is correctly added in the Registry by the Endurance Configuration Utility (the commit function). The NetworkAddress value is defined under the Parameters subkey for the adapter (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Services\adapter name#\Parameters). • Make sure that you are using a NIC that supports software settable MAC addresses. Related Messages IOPn.MtcEthP status: Error in Ethernet Provider device configuration. See Also For binding information, refer to Chapter 3 in HP NetServer AA Solution Installation Guide. IOPn.MtcEthP status: Error opening or initializing NIC. Severity Error Description This message is logged during MtcEthP initialization if an error occurs opening or initializing a Network Interface Controller. The Event Log Data section contains the Windows NT error code. Action Check the event log for errors logged by the NIC driver. If the NIC driver failed to load, try rebooting the IOP. You may want to power cycle the IOP when you reboot it. Refer to Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for information about how to reboot an IOP. 120

MtcEthP and MtcEtx Messages

IOP
n
.MtcEthP status: Error in Ethernet Provider NIC bindings in the Control Panel.
Severity
Error
Description
This message is logged if the Ethernet Provider service is either: not bound to an Ethernet
adapter, bound to too many adapters, or bound to an adapter that is not configured.
Action
Perform the following steps. Then reboot the IOP following any changes to the bindings,
because corrections of this type do not take effect until the next time Windows NT is restarted.
Run the HP NetServer AA Configuration Utility and commit the configuration. Correct
the configuration for the adapter as required to resolve any network related errors that
occur when committing the changes.
Using the Network Control Panel application, make sure that the adapter bindings are set
correctly. Bind the Endurance Ethernet Provider to the adapter that provides connectivity
to the local area network.
When installing new NIC drivers, it is common for the adapter services key in the Registry
to be removed and recreated. Make sure that the NetworkAddress value is correctly added
in the Registry by the Endurance Configuration Utility (the commit function). The
NetworkAddress value is defined under the Parameters subkey for the adapter
(
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\adapter name#\Parameters
).
Make sure that you are using a NIC that supports software settable MAC addresses.

.MtcEthP status: Error opening or initializing NIC.
Severity
Error
Description
This message is logged during MtcEthP initialization if an error occurs opening or initializing
a Network Interface Controller. The Event Log Data section contains the Windows NT error
code.
Action
Check the event log for errors logged by the NIC driver. If the NIC driver failed to load, try
rebooting the IOP. You may want to power cycle the IOP when you reboot it. Refer to
