Chapter 14 MtcScsiP and MtcScsiR Messages IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Mirror set copy from IOPn to IOPn for DISKx has halted due to a copy read failure from local IOP's DISKn. Variables n - the IOP number; either IOP1 or IOP2 x - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Warning Description A mirror copy for the specified disk has halted because the mirror copy source disk experienced a read error while trying to read copy data. Action • Use the HP NetServer AA Manager to reset the mirror copy. A new mirror copy will be started. • If the new mirror copy also fails, check the SCSI termination and cabling for problems. • If you find no problems, consider enabling bad block remapping. See the IOPn.Diskx Commands in Chapter 5 of HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for more information about bad block remapping. • Otherwise, back up all data from the source disk, and replace the source disk. See Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for details about replacing a mirrored disk. Note: The bad spot on the disk may or may not affect the integrity of the file system. Whether it has an effect will become apparent as you attempt to back up your data. IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Mirror set copy from IOPn to IOPn for DISKx has halted due to a copy write failure to local IOP's DISKn. Variables n - the IOP number; either IOP1 or IOP2 x - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Warning Description A mirror copy for the specified disk has halted because the mirror copy target disk experienced a write error while trying to write copy data. Action • Reboot the IOP that contains the disk that experienced the write error. • Reformat any data partitions (not the HP NetServer AA partition) on the disk. Do not quick format the partitions. Note: The disk will likely become a copy target, and a mirror copy will start. • If you do not want the disk to become a mirror copy target, or if the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance. 336

Description
A mirror copy for the specified disk has halted because the mirror copy source disk
experienced a read error while trying to read copy data.
Action
Use the HP NetServer AA Manager to reset the mirror copy. A new mirror copy will be
started.
If the new mirror copy also fails, check the SCSI termination and cabling for problems.
If you find no problems, consider enabling bad block remapping. See the
IOPn.Diskx
Commands
in
Chapter 5
of
HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator
s Guide
for more
information about bad block remapping.
Otherwise, back up all data from the source disk, and replace the source disk. See
Chapter
9
in
HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator
s Guide
for details about replacing a
mirrored disk.
Note:
The bad spot on the disk may or may not affect the integrity of the file system.
Whether it has an effect will become apparent as you attempt to back up your data.

Description
A mirror copy for the specified disk has halted because the mirror copy target disk experienced
a write error while trying to write copy data.
Action
Reboot the IOP that contains the disk that experienced the write error.
Reformat any data partitions (

quick format the partitions.
Note:
The disk will likely become a copy target, and a mirror copy will start.
If you do not want the disk to become a mirror copy target, or if the problem persists,
contact your service provider for assistance.
