Chapter 2 MIC BIOS Messages MIC cable fault on portn: reason. Variables n - the ID of the port with the cable fault; either 1 or 2 Severity Error Description This message indicates that a hardware cable fault was detected on the specified port. The possible reasons for the cable fault are: • Reset - the element at the other end of the port was reset or lost power. • Cable Gone - the cable was removed from the specified port or from the element at the other end of the port connection, or the cable was severed. Action • To verify that the hardware and cabling are functioning properly, run the MIC BIOS client - server diagnostics between the local system and the specified port. • If the error persists, contact your service provider for assistance. MIC communication lost with IOPx Variables x - the ID of the IOP with which the MIC has lost communication Severity Error Description The MIC BIOS lost communication with the specific IOP and terminated the boot or synchronization process. Often there is another error displayed prior to this with additional detail about the cause. There may also be related events in the startup IOP's event log. Action No action is required. MIC error status status: module line line Severity Error Description The MIC BIOS received an error status while communicating with the MIC adapter. This is probably due to a hardware fault. Action • Run the MIC BIOS client-server diagnostics between the CE and the IOP providing startup services to verify that the hardware is functioning properly. • If the error persists, write down the status code, module, and line number indicated, and contact your service provider for assistance. 52
