Chapter 13 MtcMon Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: The active CEs were removed because the boot device is no longer accessible. Severity Error Description The active CE(s) were removed from service because the mirrored SCSI disks that contain the CE's operating system are no longer available. This implies that both disks in the CE boot disks's mirror set are either faulted or not available. Because Windows NT cannot run without access to its boot device, the CEs are removed from service. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: CEx has been removed from service. Hardware/Software This message is typically generated as a result of multiple hardware failures that cause both disks in the CE boot disk's mirror set to be inaccessible. It can also be the result of the system being deconfigured by Endurance Manager commands. Action • Repair, or otherwise make available, at least one member of the CE's boot disks and reboot Windows NT on the CE(s). • Examine the event log to determine if there are problems with the physical disks that comprise the CE boot disk's mirror set. IOPn.MtcMon status: The boot conflict could not be resolved. Severity Error Description This message follows the message IOPn.MtcMon status: A conflict was detected during CE boot with remote IOPx and indicates that two IOPs are both attempting to boot the same CE. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: A conflict was detected during CE boot with remote IOPx. IOPn.MtcMon status: The boot process failed for CEx. IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx is faulted and requires repair. Hardware/Software The Endurance hardware or software is improperly configured. Action • In a properly configured Endurance server, this message never occurs. If it does, the Endurance server is not properly set up. The message itself indicates that two IOPs are attempting to drive the operating system boot for the same CE. This should not occur if the IOP Link is functional. If it is not functional, repair it. • If the IOP Link cannot be repaired immediately, and if you are sure that the surviving IOP has a good copy of the disk, issue an IOP Disable Operation command against the other IOP. This allows the surviving IOP to boot the CE. • However, even in situations in which the IOP Link is not functional, this message indicates an additional configuration problem. Both IOPs may be operating with the same IOP ID. You should examine the hardware and software configuration to determine the cause for this, reconfiguring if necessary. If the condition persists, contact your service provider for assistance. 269
