Chapter 13 MtcMon Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: A protocol error was detected on IOPx during IOP joining. Variables x - the ID of the IOP on which the protocol error was detected Severity Error Description After an IOP completes initialization with a remote IOP, it attempts to join the Endurance server configuration. A series of control messages are exchanged between IOPs as part of this process. An illegal message was detected by an IOP during this sequence, or a missing message was detected. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: The join process has failed for IOPx. IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx is faulted and requires repair. Hardware/Software An error was detected by Endurance server software. It is either: • The result of a software error • An unexpected transition, that can be caused by either hardware or software Action This message can occur if the system experiences an unexpected transition, such as loss of an IOP or CE, during IOP initialization. This message is thresholded. If the threshold is not exceeded, the IOP joining process is retried. If the retry is not successful, an IOP is faulted when the threshold is exceeded. • If this condition occurs in the absence of any related messages, make sure that the Endurance server IOPs are using compatible software. If the revisions are not compatible, reinstall them if necessary. • If the condition persists, contact your service provider for assistance. IOPn.MtcMon status: An Endurance Manager command has been issued to disable CEx. Variables x - the ID of the CE to be disabled Severity Warning Description This message is generated as a result of issuing a CE Disable command. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: CEx has been disabled by operator request. IOPn.MtcMon status: The CE remove or disable operation failed. Hardware/Software This message is generated as a result of a software operation. Action No action is required unless this message is followed by IOPn.MtcMon status: The CE remove or disable operation failed. In this case, refer to the message IOPn.MtcMon status: The CE remove or disable operation failed for a corrective action. 219

Error
Description
After an IOP completes initialization with a remote IOP, it attempts to join the Endurance
server configuration. A series of control messages are exchanged between IOPs as part of this
process. An illegal message was detected by an IOP during this sequence, or a missing message
was detected.
Related Messages

.MtcMon status: The join process has failed for
IOP

.
IOP
n
.MtcMon status: IOP
x
is faulted and requires repair.
Hardware/Software
An error was detected by Endurance server software. It is either:
The result of a software error
An unexpected transition, that can be caused by either hardware or software
Action
This message can occur if the system experiences an unexpected transition, such as loss of an
IOP or CE, during IOP initialization. This message is thresholded. If the threshold is not
exceeded, the IOP joining process is retried. If the retry is not successful, an IOP is
faulted
when the threshold is exceeded.
If this condition occurs in the absence of any related messages, make sure that the
Endurance server IOPs are using compatible software. If the revisions are not compatible,
reinstall them if necessary.
If the condition persists, contact your service provider for assistance.
