Focus Assist Light, LCD Brightness

Focus Assist Light Sometimes in low-light situations, the camera will use the red focus assist light on the front of the camera to aid in focusing. This setting allows you to turn off this light (for example when you do not want the focus assist light to distract the subject of your picture). 1 In the Setup menu (page 83), select Focus Assist. 2 In the Focus Assist sub-menu, highlight Auto or Off. 3 Press OK to save the setting and return to the Setup menu. NOTE HP recommends leaving this setting at Auto, since turning it off hinders the ability of the camera to focus correctly in low light. LCD Brightness This setting lets you adjust the brightness of the Image Display. By default, the Image Display is optimized for indoor use. You can use this setting to increase the brightness and contrast for better outdoor viewing. NOTE If you use the Outdoor setting, the image may appear overexposed when viewing it on the camera indoors. 1 In the Setup menu (page 83), select LCD Brightness. 2 In the LCD Brightness sub-menu, select Indoor or Outdoor. 3 Press OK to save the setting and return to the Setup menu.
