Installing and Removing the I/O Expansion Module
Installing the I/O Expansion Module
To install the I/O expansion module, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see
“Removing the PCI Riser
Assembly” on page 50
.
2.
Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see
“Removing the Processor Air
Duct” on page 56
.
3.
Squeeze the sides of the I/O expansion module filler panel(s) to disengage it from
the server system back panel and remove it (see letter “A” in
Figure 88
).
Note:
If you are installing an I/O expansion module that uses only one slot, remove the filler
panel only from the slot shown so that the module can be attached to I/O connector 1. Do
not remove the filler panel from the second slot.
4.
Attach the standoffs to the server board by pressing to the holes (see letter “B” in
Figure 88
).
Note:
For the 1-socket expansion module, install the three standoffs shown in gray. For the 2-
scoket expansion module, also install the fourth standoff shown in red.
5.
Position the I/O expansion module over the server board as shown in
Figure 88
.
