Removing and Installing the Large Air Baffle Some installation processes require that you remove the large air baffle that is placed behind the hard drive bays, next to the fan module near the front of your server. The following sections describe how to remove and then install the large air baffle. Use the instructions in these sections only when it is indicated as necessary for a component installation process. Always operate your server system with the large air baffle in place. The large air baffle is required for proper airflow within the server system. Removing the Large Air Baffle Before removing the air baffle, note the routing of the cables over and under the air baffle (if any) since you will need to re-route these cables. Pull up on the air baffle as shown in Figure 53 to remove it. You may need to remove or hold cables out of the way. AF002960 Figure 53. Removing the Large Air Baffle Installing the Large Air Baffle To install the large air baffle, follow these steps: 1. Lower the baffle into the server system and snap into the server board standoff as shown in Figure 54. 2. While setting the baffle into place, route the cables beneath it appropriately. Removing and Installing the Large Air Baffle
Some installation processes require that you remove the large air baffle that is placed
behind the hard drive bays, next to the fan module near the front of your server. The
following sections describe how to remove and then install the large air baffle. Use the
instructions in these sections only when it is indicated as necessary for a component
installation process.
Always operate your server system with the large air baffle in place. The large air baffle is
required for proper airflow within the server system.
Removing the Large Air Baffle
Before removing the air baffle, note the routing of the cables over and under the air baffle
(if any) since you will need to re-route these cables.
Pull up on the air baffle as shown in
Figure 53
to remove it. You may need to remove or
hold cables out of the way.
