Removing and Installing the System Cover Removing the System Cover The server system must be operated with the system cover in place to ensure proper cooling. You will need to remove the top cover to add or replace components inside of the server. Before removing the top cover, power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable(s). Note: A nonskid surface or a stop behind the server system may be needed to prevent the server system from sliding on your work surface. To remove the server system cover, follow these steps: 1. Remove the safety screw if it is installed (see letter "A" in Figure 30). 2. While holding in the blue button at the top of the server system in (see letter "B" in Figure 30), slide the top cover back until it stops (see letter "C" in Figure 30). 3. Insert your finger in the notch (see letter "D" in Figure 30) and lift the cover upward to remove it. D A C B AF002954 Figure 30. Removing and Installing the System Cover
Removing the System Cover
The server system must be operated with the system cover in place to ensure proper
cooling. You will need to remove the top cover to add or replace components inside of the
server. Before removing the top cover, power down the server and unplug all peripheral
devices and the AC power cable(s).
Note:
A nonskid surface or a stop behind the server system may be needed to prevent the server
system from sliding on your work surface.
To remove the server system cover, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the safety screw if it is installed (see letter "A" in
Figure 30
).
2.
While holding in the blue button at the top of the server system in (see letter "B" in
Figure 30
), slide the top cover back until it stops (see letter "C" in
Figure 30
).
3.
Insert your finger in the notch (see letter “D” in
Figure 30
) and lift the cover
upward to remove it.
