Removing Hot-swap Disk Carrier from the Server System

1. Press in on the green latch (at the front of the hard drive carrier) to release the carrier (see letter "A" in Figure 59). 2. Remove the four screws securing the plastic retention device to the carrier (see letter "A" in Figure 60) and remove the retention device (see letter "B" in Figure 60) . Store the retention device for future use. B A AF002987 Figure 60. Removing Drive Blank from Drive Carrier 4. Remove the hard drive from its wrapper and place it on an anti-static surface. 5. Set any jumpers and/or switches on the drive according to the drive manufacturer's instructions. 6. With the drive circuit-side down, position the connector end of the drive so that it is facing the rear of the drive carrier. 7. Align the holes in the drive to the holes in the drive carrier and attach it to the carrier using the four screws that were attached to the plastic retention device (see letter "B" in Figure 61). 2.
Pull out on the black lever and slide the carrier out from the server system (see
letter "B" in
Figure 59
).

Remove the four screws securing the plastic retention device to the carrier (see
letter “A” in
Figure 60
) and remove the retention device (see letter “B” in
Figure 60
) . Store the retention device for future use.

Remove the hard drive from its wrapper and place it on an anti-static surface.
5.
Set any jumpers and/or switches on the drive according to the drive manufacturer's
instructions.
6.
With the drive circuit-side down, position the connector end of the drive so that it is
facing the rear of the drive carrier.
7.
Align the holes in the drive to the holes in the drive carrier and attach it to the
carrier using the four screws that were attached to the plastic retention device (see
letter “B” in
Figure 61
).
