Precautions for operation control

: It will not be displayed in case of service mode where the setting is not configured (the function is set to

[OFF] when it is not displayed). Each default setting in the service mode is [OFF].

Machine maintenance control

NOTICE

Operations not observing the following procedures may result in weakened or invalidated security function,

or take-out of parts or information.

The administrator should perform the following maintenance control activities.

-

When returning the lease or disposing of the machine, the administrator should take care not to leave

any confidential information inside the machine. Please contact the service engineer (CE) to securely

delete the information inside.

-

Provide adequate control over the machine to ensure that only the Service Engineer is able to perform

physical service operations on the machine.

-

Provide adequate control over the machine to ensure that any physical service operations performed

on the machine by the Service Engineer are overseen by the administrator.

-

The administrator should make sure that the machine is operated with all settings described in the in-

stallation procedure made properly in advance. Particularly, the administrator should thoroughly make

sure that the machine is used with [Enhanced Security Mode] set to [ON].

-

If [Enhanced Security Mode] is turned [OFF], the administrator should contact the Service Representa-

tive to perform together with the service engineer (CE), then set [Enhanced Security Mode] to [ON]

again. See page 2-10 for setting method in details.

-

If the service engineer (CE) performs maintenance in response to trouble occurring in the enhanced se-

curity mode, perform the procedures for setting the enhanced security mode again.

-

Some options require that [Enhanced Security Mode] be turned [OFF] before they can be used on the

machine. If you are not sure whether a particular option to be additionally purchased is fully operational

with the [Enhanced Security Mode] turned [ON], contact your Service Representative.

Install the machine at a safe site that can be monitored and operate and manage the machine while

ensuring that the machine is protected from unauthorized physical access.

-

Refer to the description of each setting item for how to recover the machine from an insecure state due

to misconfiguration, etc.

Precautions for using the printer driver

The following precautions should be used when the printer driver is to be used in this machine:

When a document is to be transmitted from the PC to the machine, user registration is necessary in

advance.

Any document that has been transmitted by a user who is yet to be registered is discarded.

-

With the external server authentication, a user is registered in the machine when he or she has been

successful in identification authentication.

Delete Other User Jobs

Using [Administrator] - [Security] - [Restrict User Access], set [Delete Oth-

er User Jobs] to [OFF].

Remote Service setting

Using [Administrator] - [Security] - [Security Details], set [Remote Service

setting] to [OFF].

Automatic Log Distr Set.

Using [Administrator] - [Security] - [Job Log Settings] - [Automatic Log

Distr Set.], set [SSL Setting] to [OFF].

Personal Data Security Set-

tings

Using [Administrator] - [Security Settings] - [Security Details], set [Job

History] and [Current Job] under [Personal Data Security Settings] to

[Yes].

Manual Destination Input

Using [Administrator] - [Security] - [Security Details], set [Manual Destina-

tion Input] to [Restrict].

File sending (WebDAV)

Using [Administrator] - [Store Address] - [Address Book] - [WebDAV] -

[New Registration], do not set [SSL Settings] to [ON].
