Operating Basics IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following: 1. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, wash bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool. 2. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning. 3. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak. 4. Use only the power cord indicated in this manual. Region selection Telecommunication regulations vary from one country/region to another, so you will need to make sure the internal modem's settings are correct for the country/region in which it will be used. 1. Point to "All Programs", point to "TOSHIBA", point to "Networking" and click "Modem Region Select". Do not use the Country/Region Select function in the Modem setup utility in the Control Panel if the function is available. If you change the Country/ Region in the Control Panel, the change may not take effect. 2. The Region Selection icon will appear in the Windows Task Bar. The Region Selection icon 3. Click the icon with the primary mouse button to display a list of regions that the modem supports. A sub menu for telephony location information will also be displayed. A check will appear next to the currently selected region and telephony location. 4.
