Updating the Core Switch PID Format B This Appendix provides detailed information for changing the Core Switch PID format. The SAN Switch 2/32 units ship with the Core Switch PID format set to 1. Before connecting to the SAN, you must verify that the Core Switch PID formats of all switches already running in the SAN are also set to 1. If the Core Switch PID format is not changed to 1 to match the SAN Switch 2/32's value, then the switches residing in the SAN will fail to communicate with one another. Note: All switches running Fabric OS version 4.0.x or higher are shipped with the Core Switch PID Format enabled, so it is not necessary to change the Core Switch PID format on these switches. For example, the HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 2/32 and HP StorageWorks Core Switch 2/64 always use Core Switch PID format 1. This parameter is always 1 and cannot be changed. SAN Switch 2/32 Installation Guide
B
Updating the Core Switch PID
Format
This Appendix provides detailed information for changing the Core Switch PID
format. The SAN Switch 2/32 units ship with the Core Switch PID format set to 1.
Before connecting to the SAN, you
must verify
that the Core Switch PID formats
of all switches already running in the SAN are also set to 1. If the Core Switch
PID format is not changed to 1 to match the SAN Switch 2/32’s value, then the
switches residing in the SAN will fail to communicate with one another.
Note:
All switches running Fabric OS version 4.0.x or higher are shipped with the
Core Switch PID Format enabled, so it is not necessary to change the Core Switch PID
format on these switches. For example, the HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 2/32 and HP
StorageWorks Core Switch 2/64 always use Core Switch PID format 1. This parameter
is always 1 and cannot be changed.
