Overview Figure 5: Loopback plug ■ Fiber-optic protective plug-For safety and port transceiver protection, fiber-optic protective plugs, as shown in Figure 6, must be inserted in all director ports without fiber-optic cables attached. The director is shipped with protective plugs installed in all ports. Figure 6: Fiber-Optic protective plug ■ Null modem cable-An asynchronous RS-232 null modem cable, as shown in Figure 7, is required to configure director network addresses and acquire event log information through the maintenance port.
