Chapter 5 Administrator Settings ❏ E-mail Server You can configure the mail server settings for sending email. Hint The ScanFront sends a large volume of data by e-mail. Make sure you confirm the mail server settings with your e-mail system administrator before configuring the settings. • Protocol Select the protocol to be used when sending by E-mail. When performing encrypted communication, you can select [SMTPS] or [STARTTLS]. Hint • A certificate must be imported to use encrypted transmissions. For details on certificates, see "Certificates" on p. 152. • When [SMTPS] or [STARTTLS] is selected, only [SMTP Authentication] can be used as the [Mail Server Authentication Method]. • Host Name(Address) Enter the name or address of the SMTP server (for sending e-mail messages). Hint Press [Connection test] to check the connection for the entered host name. • Port number Change the port number if necessary. The standard port number is 25. • Divided E-mail Size If the image file to be attached to an e-mail message is too large to send, the file is divided into segments of the specified size before being sent. IMPORTANT • Image files of 10 MB or larger cannot be sent in one piece. • If the destination mail client does not support divided attachments, it may not be possible to recombine the sent segments into an image file. In such cases, turn off this setting, and divide the scanned documents manually before sending. • Mail Server Authentication Method Configure this setting based on the authentication method of your mail server. For details on the mail server authentication method, contact your e-mail system administrator. IMPORTANT • If other than [SMTP] is selected for the mail server authentication method, the settings for authentication by the mail server must be configured for each user. (See p. 109.) • If you select other than [SMTP], be sure to register users. 141
