Chapter 4 Operating Procedures • Detection mode Specify the color detection mode. Depending on this setting, processing for scanned documents will differ as follows. Setting Value When a color document is detected When a black and white document is detected [Color, Gray or Binary] [Color or Gray] Saved as a color image Saved as a grayscale image or black and white image depending on the document content Saved as a grayscale image [Color or Binary] Saved as a black and white image • Mode in case of binary Specify the scanning mode to use when a black and white document is detected. • Threshold intensity to judge the document as color Adjust the sensitivity to colors in a document. • Aresize to judge the document as color Specify the ratio of colored regions in a document. • Grayscale range Adjusts the sensitivity for grayscale detection on documents. • Size of the area judged as Gray Adjusts the size of the grayscale detection area on documents. IMPORTANT • The [Auto color detect.] function cannot be used simultaneously with the color drop-out or prescan function. • The scanning speed may be reduced when the Auto Color Detection function is used. Document type Select the type of document to be scanned. You can select from [Plain paper], [Extra-thin paper], [Extra-thick paper/ plastic card], [Carrier sheet], or [Carrier sheet (passport type)]. Hint When [Extra-thick paper/plastic card], [Carrier sheet], or [Carrier sheet (passport type)] is selected, [Double feed detection by Ultrasonic] will be set to [OFF] automatically. 94
