Chapter 9 Troubleshooting 1. Troubleshooting If any of the following problems occurs, solve the problem as described in the corresponding solution. Cannot use an LDAP address book (certain users only) Cannot communicate with LDAPS, SMTPS, FTPS, WebDAV over SSL, or other servers despite properly configured connection settings Cannot access the shared folder Cannot update the settings Cannot create a new folder (shared folder/FTP server) Specifying a mail address as the address and then starting scanning results in an error Cannot send email Network settings and other settings Cause The administrator has restricted the use of the LDAP address book. Solution Contact the administrator of the ScanFront. Cause The certificate has not been imported. Solution Consult the server administrator, and import the appropriate certificate. Cause The clock on the ScanFront is out of sync. Solution Sync the clock. Cause The clock on the computer on which the shared folder is located and the clock on the ScanFront are out of sync. Solution Sync the clocks. Cause The ScanFront is being used or a user has not logged out. Solution Check the ScanFront status and then try again. Cause Permission to write to the shared folder has not been granted for the user name and password that were entered. Solution Contact the administrator of the shared folder. Cause The mail server settings have not been registered, or have been deleted. Solution Contact the administrator of the ScanFront. Cause Solution Attempting to send a single 10 MB or larger image file. Reduce the size of the scanned document so that the image file is less than 10 MB. 192

Troubleshooting
If any of the following problems occurs, solve the problem as described in the corresponding solution.
Network settings and other settings
Cannot use an LDAP address
book (certain users only)
Cause
The administrator has restricted the use of the LDAP address book.
Solution
Contact the administrator of the ScanFront.
Cannot communicate with
LDAPS, SMTPS, FTPS,
WebDAV over SSL, or other
servers despite properly
configured connection settings
Cause
The certificate has not been imported.
Solution
Consult the server administrator, and import the appropriate certificate.
Cause
The clock on the ScanFront is out of sync.
Solution
Sync the clock.
Cannot access the shared folder
Cause
The clock on the computer on which the shared folder is located and the
clock on the ScanFront are out of sync.
Solution
Sync the clocks.
Cannot update the settings
Cause
The ScanFront is being used or a user has not logged out.
Solution
Check the ScanFront status and then try again.
Cannot create a new folder
(shared folder/FTP server)
Cause
Permission to write to the shared folder has not been granted for the
user name and password that were entered.
Solution
Contact the administrator of the shared folder.
