Chapter 5 Administrator Settings • Note that if the scanner transitions to Low Power mode when the placed documents run out after scanning is started, or scanning is suspended because of a paper jam or double feed, all the images that were scanned prior to the suspending of scanning and that were not yet transmitted are discarded. • You will not be able to operate the scanner immediately after power is restored from Low Power mode. Operation will be enabled after about 15 seconds, so please wait a moment before attempting operation. • Transitioning to Low Power mode disables bus power to connected USB devices. If a device is not recognized after restoring power from Low Power mode, disconnect the device before Low Power mode is activated again. • Allow remote operation. Set this to [ON] to allow access to the ScanFront from an external terminal via a web browser or ScanFront Administration Tool for SF400. (See p. 157.) IMPORTANT When [Allow remote operation] is set to [ON], remote operation will be possible without password entry. To ensure security, we recommend configuring a password for the device in the [Password setting] screen. • Reduction ratio adjustment (%) When the feed roller is worn, scanned images may appear stretched in the vertical direction. In such cases, using the [Reduction ratio adjustment] function may reduce the stretching. The specifiable range for the adjustment value is -3.0% to 3.0%. ❏ Setting a Password Set the password for restricting the display of the ScanFront maintenance screen. If you set a password, password confirmation is performed when displaying the ScanFront maintenance screen. Hint • In the initial state, the password is set to the character string printed in the password field on the rear label of the device. However, some devices do not have a password field. In this case, no password has been set. • Device passwords protect data related to device management such as device IP address, time zone, and server URL in Web application mode. IMPORTANT • The device password may also be required on the Administrator Settings screen. • Device with a password filed on the rear label has an initial default password already registered. If a password has been set, the initial state of [Allow remote operation.] is [ON]. 156

Chapter 5
Administrator Settings
Note that if the scanner transitions to Low Power mode when
the placed documents run out after scanning is started, or
scanning is suspended because of a paper jam or double
feed, all the images that were scanned prior to the
suspending of scanning and that were not yet transmitted
are discarded.
You will not be able to operate the scanner immediately after
power is restored from Low Power mode. Operation will be
enabled after about 15 seconds, so please wait a moment
before attempting operation.
Transitioning to Low Power mode disables bus power to
connected USB devices. If a device is not recognized after
restoring power from Low Power mode, disconnect the
device before Low Power mode is activated again.
• Allow remote operation.
Set this to [ON] to allow access to the ScanFront from an
external terminal via a web browser or ScanFront
Administration Tool for SF400.
(See p. 157.)
IMPORTANT
When [Allow remote operation] is set to [ON], remote
operation will be possible without password entry. To ensure
security, we recommend configuring a password for the
device in the [Password setting] screen.
• Reduction ratio adjustment (%)
When the feed roller is worn, scanned images may
appear stretched in the vertical direction. In such cases,
using the [Reduction ratio adjustment] function may
reduce the stretching. The specifiable range for the
adjustment value is -3.0% to 3.0%.
Setting a Password
Set the password for restricting the display of the
ScanFront maintenance screen.
If you set a password, password confirmation is performed
when displaying the ScanFront maintenance screen.
Hint
In the initial state, the password is set to the character string
printed in the password field on the rear label of the device.
However, some devices do not have a password field. In this
case, no password has been set.
Device passwords protect data related to device management
such as device IP address, time zone, and server URL in Web
application mode.
IMPORTANT
The device password may also be required on the
Administrator Settings screen.
Device with a password filed on the rear label has an initial
default password already registered. If a password has been
set, the initial state of [Allow remote operation.] is [ON].
