To replace the cover, lower it onto the top of the server, about a half-inch to the rear of its normal position when closed. See Figure 3-2. 6. Removing Only the PCI Hot Plug Access Panel NOTE You can safely remove the access hatch to reach PCI Hot Plug boards while the server is operating. The server can operate safely with this hatch removed. CAUTION If you plan to remove a PCI Hot Plug board from one of these slots while the server is powered up, first power down the slot through your network operating system (NOS). See Chapter 6 for details before proceeding. If you attempt to physically remove the board without first shutting down power through the NOS, problems may occur. 24

To replace the cover, lower it onto the top of the server, about a half-inch
to the rear of its normal position when closed. See Figure 3-2.

Push the cover forward until the slots in its front edge line up with the
screw holes on the server’s chassis.

Reattach the screws.

NOTE
You can safely remove the access hatch to reach PCI Hot Plug
boards while the server is operating. The server can operate
safely with this hatch removed.
CAUTION
If you plan to remove a PCI Hot Plug board from one of these
slots while the server is powered up, first power down the slot
through your network operating system (NOS). See Chapter 6
for details before proceeding. If you attempt to physically
remove the board without first shutting down power through
the NOS, problems may occur.
