Installing the Processor

Page 74 highlights

Chapter 7 Installing Additional Processors If you are upgrading from 400 MHz to 450 MHz processors (or downgrading from 450 MHz to 400 MHz), you must change the jumper settings in jumper block J31 on the processor baseboard. See Figure 7-2 for the appropriate jumper settings. Installing the Processor CAUTION The processors are sensitive to static electricity, and can be easily damaged by improper handling. Do the following when handling the accessory kit: • Leave the processor in the antistatic container until you are ready to install it. • Use an antistatic wrist strap and a grounding mat. • Before you remove a processor from the antistatic container, touch a grounded, unpainted metal surface on the HP NetServer to discharge static electricity. 1. Before beginning, determine what slot to put the processor in. You must also determine how many voltage regulator modules (VRMs) to add to the processor baseboard, and in which slots. Each VRM serves one or two specific processor modules. Table 7-1 shows how to configure the processor baseboard for one through four processors. 66

Installing Additional Processors
66
If you are upgrading from 400 MHz to 450 MHz processors (or downgrading
from 450 MHz to 400 MHz), you must change the jumper settings in jumper
block J31 on the processor baseboard. See Figure 7-2 for the appropriate jumper
settings.
Installing the Processor
CAUTION
The processors are sensitive to static electricity, and can be
easily damaged by improper handling. Do the following when
handling the accessory kit:
Leave the processor in the antistatic container until you
are ready to install it.
Use an antistatic wrist strap and a grounding mat.
Before you remove a processor from the antistatic
container, touch a grounded, unpainted metal surface on
the HP NetServer to discharge static electricity.
1.
Before beginning, determine what slot to put the processor in. You must
also determine how many voltage regulator modules (VRMs) to add to the
processor baseboard, and in which slots.
Each VRM serves one or two specific processor modules. Table 7-1 shows
how to configure the processor baseboard for one through four processors.
