Chapter 7 Installing Additional Processors The Processor Baseboard The HP NetServer's processor baseboard has four processor slots, numbered 1 through 4. It also has six voltage regulator module slots, numberedVRM1 through VRM6. Figure 7-1 shows where to find these slots on the processor baseboard. Processor Baseboard The first CPU is always in the Processor 1 slot. Add additional CPUs in ascending slot order. You must also add additional voltage regulator modules (VRMs) as you add CPUs, again in ascending slot order. There are always VRMs in slots VRM 1 and VRM 2, so they are added to slots VRM 3, VRM 4, VRM 5, and VRM 6 as you install new processors. Table 7-1, later in this chapter, shows the correct number and placement of VRMs for one, two, three, or four processors. 65

The Processor Baseboard
The HP NetServer’s processor baseboard has four processor slots, numbered 1
through 4. It also has six voltage regulator module slots, numberedVRM1

The first CPU is always in the Processor 1 slot. Add additional CPUs in
ascending slot order. You must also add additional voltage regulator modules
(VRMs) as you add CPUs, again in ascending slot order. There are always VRMs
in slots VRM 1 and VRM 2, so they are added to slots VRM 3, VRM 4, VRM 5,
and VRM 6 as you install new processors.
